Porcelain
Crown. (All Ceramic Crown)
Also known as "caps" Cosmetic Porcelain
Crowns are very attractive looking and provide
a more natural look as compared to amalgam or
gold crowns. Although there are of course the
metal crowns are previously said, there are
porcelain-covered metal crowns and full porcelain
crowns. There are several reasons for which
you may need or benefit from a crown : excessive
decay, root canal teeth, discoloved teeth or
fractures.
How is the crown made?
Your initial appointment requires tooth preparation
which will involve and removal of decay and
grinding down of the tooth using a specialized
instruments. You will then have and impression
along with a representation for how your upper
and lower jaws come together (bite registration).
The color for porcelain crowns will also determined
by matching your remaining natural teeth. A
Temporary crown will also be made which will
somewhat resemble your tooth. Your impression,
the shade and bite registration are sent to
the lab where they will construct your porcelain
crown. |

| Within 2 weeks or more,
it is sent back to your dentist's office. When
you reture, your dentist will remove your temporary
crown and ascertain your permanent crown fits
well. Any adjustments are made over your natural
tooth. Your dentist will then have you bite down
on what look like thick carbon paper to check
your bite. If proper contact are not being made
correctly or your bite is uncomfortable, your
dentist will ligthly drill parts of your crown
until the correch contact are made. |
| Denture
When you have space between
your teeth due to lost from periodental disease,
injury or other reason, the denture will help
to keep the alignment of neighbouring teeth.
There are two types of denture.
1. Partial Denture & Complete Denture
2. Crown & Bridge
Partial denture is made for one or more natural
teeth remain on the upper or lower jaw. It may
be all plastic with/without clasps or metal
with plastic and clasps. The clasps are what
hold the partial denture place in the mouth.
They are designed to fit your mouth easily.Complete
denture or full denture are made when all of
your natural teeth are missing. You can have
a full denture on your upper or lower jaw, or
both.Crown & Bridge are not removable like
parfial or complete denture. The are cemented
in the mouth by dentist. Some are all porcelain.
Your dentist reduces the size of the tooth needing
a crown. An impression is taken along with measurements
of how your jaws relate to one another and how
much space is between them. The dental laboratory
help to make crown from the impression and registration.
On any final adjustment are made to the
completed crown, your dentist will cement the
crown in place.
